Wild Trek Tours offers a fishing tour in Victoria’s north east that we hold every Melbourne Cup long weekend. This starts the Thursday before Melbourne Cup, returning home on Tuesday Melbourne Cup day. It is based at the headwaters of the Murray at Corryong in north east Victoria.
Our fishing tours on the Murray River are based at a camping area right next to the river, so you would need your own supplies, including sleeping gear, food, alcohol if required (and Esky), etc. A BBQ is provided. There is a drop toilet at the site. We can supply tents and other gear if needed.
We guarantee fish – not always trout, but sometimes carp (there are plenty of carp even in the headwaters of the Murray). We fish every day, from first light to lunch, and then again in the afternoon until dusk.
There is plenty of walking to the best sites. If you have a 4WD, there are also quite a few good spots we can reach that are not accessible by the family car. And don’t be perturbed by catching carp – they are a pest, and once caught you cannot put them back, but they all huge (3kg plus) and provide a good fight on light tackle.
We include one lunchtime counter meal at a family friendly pub.
